John Ballato

Dr. Ballato is a Professor of Materials Science & Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering at Clemson University. He received his Ph.D. in Ceramic and Materials Engineering from Rutgers University. Among his accomplishments, Dr. Ballato has received the Kreidl Award, the Robert Lansing Hardy Award, the Robert L Coble Award from The American Ceramic Society, and holds 25 U.S. and foreign patents. Dr. Ballato’s research focuses on new optical materials and structures for high-value photonic and optoelectronic applications, including light-emitting nanoparticles for transparent ceramics, lighting, and sensing application.
